Fowey Estuary
The Fowey Estuary is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places on the south coast of Britain and is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Furthermore, this stunning estuary lies midway along the stretch of coastline from Gribbin Head to Polperro which has also designated as a Heritage Coast - a designation which applies to coasts of exceptionally fine scenic quality.
This working river is surrounded by beautiful walks which makes it a very popular destination. The highlight of the sailing / tourist calendar is the Royal Fowey Regatta which takes place in August each year. This week long extravaganza on both land and water encompasses not only colourful racing with many unusual classes and type of boat but also many spectacular events such as the firework display over the water and the not to be missed Red Arrows display. It is said that this is one of the RAFs favourite display locations due to the stunning scenery.
